Solar chimney
Why would the Sun not cool?
Use a chimney to ventilate is certainly not a novelty. Use the chimney to the cooling is quite an interesting feat. Solar chimney increases the energy of the Sun to move the chimney.
Principle
Uses stack effect, when in vertically oriented cavity (chimney) arises from the difference between the lower and upper temperature. The warm air rises up (it's lighter). The greater the temperature difference inside the chimney and the outside of the chimney, the greater is the pull of the chimney. The move is the difference in pressure between the inside of the chimney and the outer area of the chimney. Therefore, in order to stack effect used for ventilation and cooling in the summer time, it is necessary to ensure a higher temperature in the inner of the upper part of the chimney compared to the ambient temperature.
Therefore, it is a solar chimney in its component parts with a solar heater air, ideally oriented to the south, which converts solar radiation to the blazing heat and thus increases the temperature inside the chimney. And as already mentioned, the larger the difference the inner part of the chimney compared to the outdoor temperature, the higher the thrust of the chimney.
The solar heater can take many forms. In the base is a box with insulated walls (so that the heat does not escape through the walls of the heater). The front side of the box open to the Sun, is made of glass. Inside the box is located absorber, which may be any material which is heated by the sun's rays and has the ability to absorb heat and blazing the absorbed heat to the surroundings. So far, they're winning metal painted black. On the bottom side of the heater is the entry of air from the chilled room and on the upper side is the output of heated air.
For the purposes of cooling in the room, it is necessary to ensure the supply of cooler air into the room. If we are talking about a passive cooling (I don't make the chill a device that consumes electrical energy), this can be achieved by drawing cooler air from the north side of the house. On the south side must then be set solar heater chimney.
Pros
- no consumption energy
- maintenance-free, except for cleaning the soiled glass heater
Risks
- high temperature solar water heater, which could cause problems for example, the covering of the roof
- poorly designed dimensions of the solar chimney can indicate a low efficiency
- swirl of dust, but it brings any circulation
Usage
The systems are so far mainly applied in the construction of new objects. In this case, is already in the documentation of the counts with the construction of the properly sized chimney. There have been attempts to use the unused chimney flues, or using chimney systems to create a new chimney to the outside or inside of the building.

[...] That could be the air passive intake, is the need to ensure the exhaust air from the building – arrange a slight negative pressure in the building. A good solution is the use of the chimney effect in high-rise buildings, or solar chimney, in low-rise buildings to see. Article Solar chimney [...]
